Essilor, a French company, is the world's leading corrective lens manufacturer.
This position is the result of three main assets: innovative and quality products, global locations, synergy of specialised teams.
Essilor's goal is to help all those who need corrective lenses see better. Our mission is to provide, with the help of the eyecare professionals, superior, high-performance products that, by anticipating eyeglass wearers needs, not only satisfy them but also exceed expectations. Essilor - "Seeing the world better."
Innovative products
The name Essilor is synonymous the world over for superior products. Much of this recognition is owed to two major inventions: the progressive lens, Varilux, which revolutionised correction for presbyopia; and the organic lens, Orma, the first plastic ophthalmic lens, a lens that combines lightness and impact resistance. Today, Essilor manufactures one of every two progressive lenses and one of every three organic lenses sold around the world. And though Essilor has introduced many major new inventions to the optical market (Varilux - 1959, plastic lenses - 1961, Crizal - 1992), it understands that global competition remains stiff. This is a competition Essilor welcomes. Dynamic competition is the stimulus and fuel for the creativity and winning spirit of Essilor's teams.
Collective commitment
In 1998, as in the last 25 years, Essilor has demonstrated its convictions by launching new products and developing the concept of service for optical professionals, whether they are single points of sale or the multiple outlets operated by eyewear distribution chains.
Long-term strategy
Since its inception, Essilor has thought in the long term. Technological developments, industrial and financial investments, partnerships
in fact, all of the company's strategic decisions are made with an eye toward the future. For Essilor, this is the most effective way to honour the commitments it has made to all its partners: shareholders, employees, suppliers, eyecare professionals, clients and consumers.
International Group
Being international means, first and foremost, being local. Rather than a constraint, we see this as an opportunity. Each market is different and deserves a specific approach. Getting closer to people allows us to understand them better, work with them better and serve them better. The Group's international scope also includes the people of which it is composed. Essilor is located on all 5 continents, in nearly 40 countries, and includes nearly 20,000 employees
